Isle of Mull

The plan for this long weekend is to base ourselves on Mull and plan our daily paddling based on group ability and the prevailing weather forecast.

Mull has so much to offer the sea kayaker, with the islands of Staffa, Ulva and Iona all close to hand.

This trip would be appropriate for returning clients or those with previous kayaking experience.

 Knoydart Trip

Although part of the mainland, the Knoydart peninsula is renowned for its remoteness. There is no road access and the best way to get there is by boat.

We plan to meet up at Mallaig on the Saturday morning, and after loading our kayaks with our camping equipment make our way round to Loch Nevis. We will find a remote campsite for our first nights camp at the head of Loch nevis. Our next campsite will be at the beach at Inverie which allows us easy access to the Old Forge, reputably the remotest pub in the UK.

Aberdeenshire Coast (Stonehaven Area)

The plan for this weekend is to run 2 day trips in the Stonehaven area. This is a great coastline for exploring by sea kayak with numerous caves and stunning coastal scenery, you also get great views of Dunnotter Castle from the sea.

This area is rich in marine and birdlife and the spectacular cliffs at Fowlsheugh are packed with 130,000 breeding seabirds in the spring and early summer.

Dolphin Spotting (Moray Coast)

The plan for this weekend is to run 2 day trips on the Moray Firth. This area is rich in wildlife, and if lucky we may get a sighting of the resident dolphin population which are regularly spotted off Chanonry point.

As well as looking out for wildlife, we also intend introducing kayaking skills throughout the weekend, so this would be an ideal course for anyone looking for an introduction to sea kayaking.
