North Berwick

The plan for this weekend is to run 2 day trips based in the North Berwick area. This is a great coastline for exploring by sea kayak with a number of islands located just off the coast. One of the best known is Bass Rock, home to one of the largest Gannet colonies in Scotland, weather permitting we would hope to visit the island over the weekend.

This would be an ideal trip for the nature lover to get an introduction to sea kayaking.

Knoydart Area

Although part of the mainland, the Knoydart peninsula is renowned for its remoteness. There is no road access and the best way to get there is by boat.

We plan to meet up at Mallaig on the Saturday morning, and after loading our kayaks with our camping equipment we will make our way round to Loch Nevis. We will find a remote campsite for our first night at the head of Loch nevis. Our next campsite will be at the beach at Inverie which allows us easy access to the Old Forge, reputably the remotest pub in the UK.

Kayak Skills Course (Speyside)

This course will be based in the Spey Valley, and the plan is to spend day 1 on Loch Morlich introducing kayaking skills.

We will then run the following day on the Moray Firth. This is a great area for sea kayaking, and there is always the possibility to see the resident dolphin population, which regularly spends time off chanonry point.
